In poker, this is a rule which states that a player can not use the money he has in his pockets during a hand. Only money that is before it can be invested in the pot. If he runs out of chips during the hand, a side pot which he can claim is made. This rule applies to all poker games played at the casino. There is also a schedule rule that a player may not remove chips from the table during a game. Although this rule is not inherent to the “table stakes,” it is almost always applied in public poker games.
